Teck’s Carmen de Andacollo Hypogene project in Chile is the latest landmark project in South America on which we are providing engineering and project management services.
"[Amec Foster Wheeler's] constant preoccupation with taking care of security and the environment has resulted in our project maintaining an excellent safety record."
Walter Droppelman, Project Director, Teck
The project includes a 55,000 tonne per day concentrator to process reserves, which requires innovative, low cost design due to the low grade of the copper deposit. Our project scope includes the concentrator, tailings and ancillary facilities, with its involvement starting in the early planning stages, followed by feasibility design and engineering, procurement and construction management services.
The Carmen de Andacollo mine is located in central Chile, adjacent to the town of Andacollo, approximately 55 kilometres southeast of La Serena and 350 kilometres north of Santiago. The mine is located near the southern limit of the Atacama Desert at an elevation of 1,000 metres.
