Seminole Electric Cooperative, one of the largest generation and transmission cooperatives in the US, selected us to install and construct a dual fuel, simple cycle aero derivative combustion turbine peaking plant.
The scope of work included all civil, mechanical, electrical and balance of plant construction, erection, check-out and start-up for the installation of five Pratt & Whitney gas turbine generator units. Each unit consisted of two combustion turbines and one generator, along with all required auxiliary systems and equipment, all necessary structural steel and foundations for the equipment supplied and all other equipment and accessories needed to make this a fully functioning and operating facility. The project had a large amount of concrete and foundation work, which required heavy dewatering of the site.
These peaking units, which became available for commercial operation in December 2006, added 310 MW of peaking capacity and can be started and brought on line in as few as eight minutes.
