Working on a one-year timeline the team completed an environmental assessment and site servicing for the Velodrome centre. Thanks to previous experience, the project team was able to fast-track the environmental assessment as well as the design for the road, sanitary services, storm water management and site pre-grading. This fast-tracking allowed construction to move ahead quickly and meet the project's timelines.

Amec Foster Wheeler was involved with providing environmental services during the construction of five projects for the winter Olympic Games. We provided pre-construction environmental management plan development, environmental monitoring during construction and peer reviews. We also provided consulting services on financial reporting, renewable energy, aboriginal affairs and stakeholder engagement. For the Olympic Speed Skating Oval we provided engineering soil improvement.

Amec Foster Wheeler provided a wide array of services on the Philips Area, Centennial Olympic Park, Centennial Olympic Stadium/Turner Field and Olympic Village and Aquatic Center for the 1992 Atlanta Summer Olympics. The services included; materials testing; environmental site assessments; soil remediation; subsurface investigation; foundation system inspections, installations, and monitoring; geotechnical consulting; groundwater testing; construction monitoring; and topographic surveys.

Amec Foster Wheeler helped update the Melbourne Cricket Grounds, one of the venues used in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, by providing an electrical audit and feasibility study. We preformed the audit and study on the following systems: high voltage sports light tower system, a low voltage electrical power distribution system, an electrical selectivity analysis on both systems, standby power generation system and programmable logic control systems; a lighting control system; and, an uninterruptible power supply system.
