Renewable energy: concentrating on solar power

We conducted preliminary engineering, basic engineering and EPC capital cost estimate for Solargenix’s Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) plant in Boulder City, Nevada.

The plant is a thermal solar power plant using trough technology, to collect solar energy from the sun to heat - Heat Transfer Fluid (HTF) and produce steam that is sent to a steam turbine generator. The steam turbine generator is capable of generating 70MW of electric power. The plant uses a unique low temperature reheat design and was the first solar thermal power plant built in the US in 15 years.

We completed the initial engineering including plant layout, specification and purchase of major equipment including the turbine generator, steam generation heat exchangers and mirrors and collecting tubes.

Location:Boulder City, Nevada, US
Client:Solargenix (now known as Acciona)
Scope:Preliminary engineering, basic engineering, and engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) capital cost estimate
