Protecting assets in space

In early 2015 Amec Foster Wheeler commenced work on facilities and infrastructure for the Space Fence Radar System; the largest ground-based radar of its type ever constructed.

The Space Fence program, a new advanced ground-based S-Band phased array radar system, will enhance the way the U.S. detects and tracks more than 200,000 orbiting objects in space and increase the ability to protect assets in space by preventing space-based collisions. The project is an upgrade to the existing Air Force Space Surveillance System installed in the early 1960s.

Amec Foster Wheeler’s engineering and construction resources have been deployed from across the globe to work seamlessly with the Lockheed Martin Team.
