Multi-disciplinary services deliver efficiency upgrade and modernisation to 1970s pumping station

Built in the 1970s, the Morgan Falls pumping station had not been upgraded to meet increases in demand. The two existing pumps were inefficient at their current flow and pressure demand conditions and were in need of replacement. The upgrade we designed included two new dry pit pumps and an additional third on-line spare pump. The pumps were sized to accommodate the current flow rates to be discharged into the water reclamation facility. 

To complement the new efficient pumping regime, we recommended all the existing equipment within the pump room was replaced. We were also able to make improvements to operation and safety through implementation of an odour control system and eye-wash station.

We completed the entire design and permitting which included elements of civil, mechanical, electrical and environmental engineering. The design was completed within programme and under budget. Furthermore, we will continue to provide bidding assistance and construction administration services for this upgrade. Once a contractor is selected, we will provide construction administration services to ensure the client receives a quality product.

The next phase of the project is to support Fulton County with construction management, with an anticipated start in summer of 2013.
