Greece’s Public Power Corporation chose Amec Foster Wheeler’s oil and gas boiler technology for its Atherinolakkos power plant on the remote southeast coast of Crete to ensure that the island’s growing energy demands will be met. Crete is the Mediterranean’s fourth largest island and a large tourist destination.
Amec Foster Wheeler supplied two heavy oil-fired field erected boilers with a steam production capacity of 185 tonne per hour, capable of producing 50 MWe or electricity.
